Welcome to the ONLY IN AMERICA website.

A little more than 350 years ago, in September,1654, twenty-three impoverished Jews arrived by ship in New Amsterdam after having been expelled from Recife,Brazil. Adding insult to injury, Governor Peter Stuyvesant tried to expel them when they arrived. He failed. ONLY IN AMERICA is a series of six radio programs that will show the progress of American Jews from this trickle of poor immigrants to today's thriving community of six million.

From Asher Levy, who fought for Jewish civil rights in colonial times, to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who climbed from working class roots in Brooklyn to a seat on the Supreme court, ONLY IN AMERICA is full of stories and personalities of Jewish women and men, from the present and the past, who have achieved success in America.

ONLY IN AMERICA consists of six programs, plus two specials: The First Jews, No Dogs or Jews Allowed: The Story of anti-Semitism in America, The Streets Were Paved With Gold and Becoming Americans: The Jewish Lower East Side of New York, Parts 1 & 2, White Christmas and Over the Rainbow: The Story of the Jews who Created Tin Pan Alley & Hollywood, Parts 1 & 2, Never Again!: A Holocaust memorial with Elie Wiesel and A Conversation with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
